Katie Spangler, Sydney Yang, Laura Hamilton, Meighan Schmidt and Anna Lewis also attended the week-long camp taught by Monica Jones.
Campers learned the basic techniques of working with clay, including how to make pinch pots, slab creations, wind chimes and animal sculptures. Schmidt, 9, said she also has attended drama camp at OCAF but preferred the clay camp because “I get to express my feelings into shapes.”
Though summer camp sessions have ended, OCAF is sponsoring a series of Saturday side-by-side classes for an adult and child ages 7-15. The next classes are August 2, 9 and 16. The course is designed for mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces, fathers and sons to spend quality time together and design, hand build and decorate a complete work of art.
