Approximately 75 people showed up to try products from Wilson, Adams Golf and Callaway, according to Shelley Geib, vice president and store manager of Lucky’s. “That was more than I expected. It was a good turnout,” said Shelley. Her husband, John Geib, president and owner of the sporting goods store, was at the demonstration to meet golfers and answer questions.
“A demo day is where we have a chance, to meet new people
and meet the golf community in Sales reps from the three golf companies also were on-hand to answer consumer questions about their products and to encourage customers to try out different balls and clubs. “In the store they can try out putters but they can’t try out everything. We’d like to be big enough someday where we can have some indoor swinging cages, but that’s just not available now,” said Shelley. “You’re talking about pretty high-end, expensive equipment, and it’s good for the customer to try it out before they buy it – for free, that’s always a perk.” Shelley said this is the store’s first golf demo day and they will probably hold one each spring. A previously planned tennis demo day was cancelled due to weather, and Shelley said they haven’t yet been able to organize all the sales reps to plan another one. Lucky’s Sporting Goods offers sporting goods ranging from pro and recreational golf and tennis to baseball, softball, soccer, football and disc golf equipment.
