The Grand Slam Band Jam is scheduled for Saturday, June 4. The family-friendly concert event will benefit the Jordan Ellis Memorial Fund.
The concert, which will be held on the Grayson Farm in Bogart, will feature a number of local bands, including Bobby Compton, Grains of Sand, and Ben Burgess and the Graham Four.
There will be live and silent auctions at the event, as well as refreshments for sale. Families are also free to bring their own food and coolers to the concert.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the Jordan Ellis Memorial Fund, established by Hunter Grayson. Hunter and Jordan were best friends throughout high school. When Jordan was killed in an automobile accident, his friend wanted a way to keep Jordan’s name alive, and also honor the young man he considered a brother.
Hunter was away at college when Jordan was killed, but came home after the accident. He will start back to school in the fall, but, until then, is working an unpaid, full-time job getting the Memorial Fund up and running as a legitimate 501 (3)(c) non-profit.
He is also spending a lot of time organizing fundraisers, like the June 4 concert at his grandparents’ farm, and a rodeo in the fall. Both events will fund scholarships given out through the Jordan Ellis Memorial Foundation.
Mostly, Grayson said, he wants the concert and other memorial fund events to be an opportunity for his friends and neighbors to get together, have a good time, and remember Jordan Ellis.
“Jordan’s funeral brought this whole community together,” Hunter said. “I have never seen anything like it. I decided I didn’t want the funeral to be the last time that happened. I just couldn’t let it be the last time.”
The Grand Slam Band Jam will be June 4 at Grayson Farm, located at 1061 Grayson Lane in Bogart. The event starts at 9 a.m.
Admission to the concert is $15 per person. Children under five are admitted free. For more information on the concert, or on the Jordan Ellis Memorial Fun, contact Hunter Grayson at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
